It’s probably a good idea to register yourself as a business no matter what the requirements are of the carrier, that way you don’t have to worry about it. You should then consider opening up a business checking account at your bank. It’s better to keep the money you earn from your dealership separate from your personal checking or savings accounts.
After all of this initial work is done you can go ahead and apply for dealership at the different cell providers that you are interested in working for. You can go to each of their websites and they all should have a place where you can access their dealer applications online. You will probably have to submit a resume and some business references as well in order to be considered.
If you are accepted, you will then receive three different forms that they will expect you to fill out so make sure that you fill all three of them out completely. These forms are important so make sure they are done correctly and sent back in on time so not to slow down your process of opening up business.
You may not even have to have a separate place to open up shop, if you want, especially when you first start, can work out of your home. However, if you want to work in a more retail oriented atmosphere you should be able to find some small space somewhere to lease or rent where you can set up shop. This way you will have room to display different phones and accessories that you sell as well.
You will need to get a hold of some wholesalers so that you can purchase phones and accessories at a wholesale price so that you will be able to make a profit from the sale of these products. You will probably have to pay up front the first couple of times, but as they get to know you, you will probably get to be billed for products on a regular basis.
